Rocky Mountain Elk are not only indigenous to the west. Before their eradication from over hunting in the early part of the 1900’s, they were at home in the Ozark Mountains in Missouri and Arkansas. The heavy timber in the hills and valleys of the old Ozark Mountain range are very natural for our Elk herd. They range easily up and down the rocky hills and ravines.
Our ranch is very heavily wooded; with hills, valleys and ravines. The longest shot in the last ten years has been 104 yards. To get that close offers a challenge in itself. Trophy Bulls and Cows are harvested each year to keep our herd at management levels. C.W.D. or Chronic Wasting Disease has ravaged herds out west and into Wisconsin and Illinois. Our herd is C.W.D. free and monitored to stay that way.
We at Circle K Ranch are committed to maintaining the highest quality breeding program to insure the best quality animal available. You don’t have to wait to draw a tag here; in-state and non-resident tags are available here at the ranch for only a $5.00 fee.
